Replicating food in 3D is notoriously difficult—organic textures, moist glazes, and subsurface scattering of light are easily rendered poorly. WeFirstWeb engineered a custom optimization pipeline that takes photogrammetry scans of actual dishes prepared in the restaurant's kitchen, refines them into lightweight low-poly WebGL models, and applies custom shaders to simulate real-world light refraction. Diners can spin, tilt, and zoom on the dish, inspecting ingredient placement and plating details in real-time.
Interactive augmented reality table placement
Diners can tap a 'View on Table' overlay to instantly project the dish onto the table in real-world scale. Utilizing browser-native WebXR, the model matches the camera's perspective and adapts to the local ambient lighting.
